If you have more of a traditional beer taste, try the classic and smooth John Doe American Wheat.

The History

The building that houses Phoenix Brewing Company has an interesting history. Formerly Schroer Mortuary and Funeral Home, the building looks almost the same as it did over 100 years ago, when it was resurrected in 1914. Phoenix kept the original windows and converted areas of the building, such as the original chapel, into a beautiful taproom. Lights, wood, and the brick patio were all salvaged and recycled from nearby buildings in Mansfield and Cleveland. Who knew that enjoying a frothy, cold beverage could be so historical and eco-friendly?

The Location

Phoenix Brewing Company is in the heart of historic downtown Mansfield, and there is plenty to see and do within easy walking distance. Try one of the many places to grab some grub, stroll the streets and admire historic architecture, or go on a shopping spree. If you want to explore a little farther afield, take a quick, 10-minute drive to the Shawshank Trail. Here, you’ll see 15 original filming sights from Shawshank Redemption, including the Ohio State Reformatory.
