We offer Education from a 1 day Class to a 3 day Cooking Boot Camp experience!

The Classes are designed for the home cook. From Kid Friendly to Gourmet Level.

July:2,3,2014

Gluten Free Cooking 
Celiacs to Wheat Intolerant  -- Awareness  of other Food allergies. 
Please note the kitchen has been carefully cleaned Especially for Zero Cross contamination. We are  Very Aware of the Sensitivity to Gluten!
 

August:  16,17 and August 30,31,2014

Preserving the Bounty from the Kitchen Garden, with a little help from the Farm Wives in the area. Canning, Freezing, and Preserving. 
Special Back of the House Tour with Coopers Mill. Optional Side Trip to the Amish Produce Auction.
 

September :  10,11,12,2014

The Fall Harvest is coming in.  Celebrate the bounty with a few new recipes, with Meats, Sauces and Soups. 
Optional Tour: Local Butcher shop. They will demonstrate where your Meat Cuts come from and why you use certain cuts of Meats for Certain Recipes.
 
 

October 15,16,17,2014

Spooky Food:   A lesson in Food Art. Trip Through the Best Haunted Prison in America !  
Wear  your costume for Free Haunted Surprise !
Optional Tour: It's High Production Ag Harvest Time -- Special times are scheduled to Ride on the Big Red Tractor and Modern Combines with WIFI - GPS  - Super high tech Equipment.

 Summer isn’t summer without breaking out the old grill.  Polish your spatulas and prepare to become the king or queen of the BBQ.

July 8,9,10, 2015 Boot Camp

 Visit Amish produce market, local farmer markets. Learn basics of freezing and canning.

 October 2015 :  Best. Turkey. Ever.  Enough said.

 

The Boot Camp will take place at the beautiful Hideaway Inn in Bucyrus, Ohio, which is situated on 6 acres of gorgeous farmland. Attendants can stay the Hideaway Inn for discounted rates, with breakfast provided. 

Schedule:

The days will begin at 9 am, with lessons covering the different properties and characteristics of the ingredients of the day, which will be followed by the farm tours led by the farmers themselves. 

From 12 pm to 1 pm, attendants will get an hour to themselves for lunch. There will be a box lunch available for $10. However, you are free to bring your own lunch or go out to eat at local restaurants. 

At 1 pm, activities will resume at The Hideaway Inn’s kitchen with a hands-on lesson with the day’s ingredients. Participants will learn how to cook, prepare and season their ingredients from experienced and knowledgeable chefs. Then at 4 pm, participants will conclude the day by indulging in their delicious creations! For participants in the full 3-day boot camp, The Hideaway Inn celebrates the intense, but rewarding week with a 3-4 course meal, with an accompanying wine tasting. Be assured, by the time you leave, you will know your way around a kitchen!

The 3-day boot camp  $1,199, which includes the first three days featuring chicken, eggs, herbs, produce, and dairy. 

The 5-day boot camp  $1,999, and includes the additional days of fish, pork, and beef, as well as the wine and food tasting provided on the final day. 

All participants will receive complementary reference books on all the ingredients, a quality apron, and a variety kitchen supplies to take home.

 Every participant, from the serious culinary professionals to the busy moms, will walk away with great memories, new friends, and most importantly, knowledge and skills that are relevant and applicable to their life! Holiday Cooking Classes

Every season poses a new cooking challenge! The summer is the time for outdoor eating with Memorial Day and Fourth of July barbeques. The fall brings Thanksgiving turkey, while the winter brings Christmas ham. Does it seem every year you are making the exact same thing? Does it seem every year your meal does not turn out like you wished it would? Or are you looking for a fun activity to do with friends?

Well then, I encourage you to check out The Hideaway Inn’s new 2-day Holiday Cooking Class Series!

With a class available for each season, attendants will get two full days of hands-on cooking experience learning how to add variety to the holiday staples, while making the most of seasonal ingredients. Classes will take place in The Hideaway Inn’s kitchen, where participants will learn how to prepare and cook delicious food from highly qualified chefs.

The two-day events will cost $799, with rooms at The Hideaway Inn being offered at a discounted rate for participants. Days will begin at 9 am and conclude at 5 pm, when participants will get to sit down and savor the fruits of their labor! A one hour lunch break will be included at noon with lunch.
