HideAway Inn Adds Excellent A to Z Wineworks Oregon

There are many good wineries making fabulous wines right here in North America--growing fabulous fruit in temperate climates. Though there are hundreds of amazing wines made right here in Ohio, California and Oregon are top on the list too, of course. A to Z Winery in Oregon is one such winery that is striving for sustainability in farming and to make innovative and aromatic wines that delight the palate. They've just celebrated their 12th anniversary.

The mission statement on the A to Z Wineworks website states, “We are going to relentlessly chase
perfection
, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. We are not at all interested
in just being good.”

And the winery is certainly making a good point, because they aren’t just good, they are excellent wines making the valley of Oregon proud. Their slogan says it all: “Consistently Well-Made Wines That Represent the Essence of Oregon.”

Now, these amazing wines are available in Ohio at the HideAway Country Inn, the premiere bed and breakfast in central Ohio that offers fine dining and wine not only for guests, but also for those wishing to stop in for a decadent dinner and a relaxing glass of wine in our Restaurant 1938 or Pub 1938.

HideAway Inn is proud to add labels Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir of A to Z Wineworks to their extensive wine list of over 100 varietals, which are all stored in the historic, climate controlled and award winning wine cellar. HideAway Country Inn just recently again was awarded the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence for 2014.

Aren’t familiar with A to Z wines? Now is the perfect chance to give them a try, but while you have a moment, here’s a few more details to help with your decision.

Pinot Noir

The 2012 vintage of Pinot Noir is made from the best of 70 different vineyards across Oregon and approximately 100 fermentations! The fruit was ripe and very healthy that year and the fruit held intense flavor. Tasting notes indicate that this wine has the “vibrant aromas of juicy berries, cherries, lavender and violets, evolving to clove, game, smoke, and cherry tobacco……this wine walks the tight rope between richness and elegance.”

It was even called “An American Treasure” by Eric Asimov of the New York Times and Food & Wine has called it the Best American Pinot Noir under $20 for two years. A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir has twice been named to Wine Spectator's Top 100 wines of the year.

Pinot Gris

The 2013 blend of the Pinot Gris is a mixture of 30 different Oregon vineyard fruit, with individual components fermented separately to highly the attributes of each flavor. Tasting notes speak to its “aromas of honeysuckle, lemon zest, nutmeg, and wet stone developing into richer aromas of lychee, beeswax, and melon….the long finish ultimately ends crisp and clean with flavors of jasmine green tea.” Wine Spectator magazine rates it a BEST VALUE and Wine & Spirits and Wine Enthusiasts name it BEST BUY.

A to Z Wineworks was started in 2002 by four friends, Oregon wine industry veterans, Deb Hatcher (Eyrie), Bill Hatcher (Domaine Drouhin Oregon), Sam Tannahill (Archery Summit) and Cheryl Francis (Chehalem). In 2006, the group welcomed another Oregon wine veteran, Michael Davies, as winemaker, and partnered with Gregg Popovich (Coach of the San Antonio Spurs) to buy REX HILL Vineyards and Winery (established in 1982).

According to A to Z Wineworks, “A to Z remains true to the dual mission of offering Aristocratic Wines at Democratic Prices blending one cuvee each vintage of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris that deliver the Essence of Oregon.  A commitment to excellence is matched by a belief in fair value and sustainability in business as well as farming and a drive to offer the highest quality for the best value.”

We look forward to your visit to HideAway Country Inn and Restaurant and Pub 1938 to try A to Z wines or any other of our fabulous selection.
