Planning Some Historic and Education Sites into Your Weekend Getaway? Ohio is Home to Warren G. Harding Museum

Do you like to travel as a couple to various historic parks, landmarks, museums, and attractions over the glorious summer days? In Ohio, there are numerous historic places to visit, including several Presidential museums and homes.

For instance, if you are into Presidential history, you might want to make a stop in Marion, Ohio, for a tour of the Warren G. Harding home! As a National Historic Landmark, it was built in 1891 (for a minor $3,000!!) during the time that the future 29th President of the United States was editor and publisher of The Marion Star newspaper and then a state senator and lieutenant governor for Ohio.

The Restored Harding Home

Harding and his wife even gave their “front porch campaigns” from their home, following in the footsteps of Former President James and Garfield and President William McKinley, yet made their own mark by being the first to use celebrities and well-known business icons during their campaign and the first to garner widespread media coverage.

This Victorian home has been restored to how it was in the 1920s and includes original furnishings. The Press House that Harding had beside his home is now used as a museum. Harding died while in office and the Harding Tomb is also the grounds. All this sits in a park setting and the public is welcome to walk and enjoy the entire area and there is also a store available.

In addition, they also hold special events and symposiums. Keep an eye out for the details on the Harding Trail Bus Tour, as well! All of the dates and information can be viewed on the Ohio History website, under the Warren G. Harding Home and Historical schedule of events.
