Recipes for Water Infused with Natural Herbs and Fruits for Healthy and Refreshing Summer Living

According to WebMD, our bodies are composed of about 60 percent water.  Drinking water helps maintain the balance of body fluids, including digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.

This hydration calculator can help you determine how much water you need to drink each day. Taken from the nutrition section of, it also takes your activity levels, altitude and other factors into consideration.

There are many reasons to drink water and stay hydrated, including keeping skin supple, clear, and breathable, especially during the hot summer months. If you drink alcohol, which can dehydrate you, drink lots of water to stay hydrated and counter its effects.

If you don’t like just plain water all the time, but want to still hydrate in a healthy way, try some of the recipes below with fruit and herbs to jazz up your daily intake. Adding fruit and herbs, like mint or lemon, to your water can freshen your mouth, cleanse your palate, and possibly help with weight loss.

Raspberry Mint Water

In a glass of filtered ice water, add:

2 Mint leaves, torn
5 Organic Raspberries

Cucumber Lemon Rosemary Water

In a glass of filtered ice water, add:

1 Sprig Rosemary
1 Thin slice of Lemon
4 Thin slices of Cucumber

Gingered Pear Water

5 pears

1 small lemon

6 whole cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

Core the pear and slice into wedges

Squeeze 1/2 the lemon over the sliced pear to help from browning

Slice the other half of the lemon in to thin slices.

Fill a pitcher of water and add in all of the ingredients from above. Let refrigerate a minimum of 2 hours to allow the flavors to gently infuse the water.

Add ice to glasses, pour over, and serve. Garnish with a slice of lemon or cinnamon stick for some extra spice.
