Ideas for Choosing Vibrant and Abundant Flowers for a Springtime Wedding

Are you thinking about or planning a springtime wedding or elopement? On the East Coast of the United States, everyone is ready to feel soft, cool breezes on their cheeks. Winter snow and cold temperatures should give way soon to moist ground, flower spouts, chirping birds, and some sunshine elixir to each day! Looking toward this time, we’ve got some colorful tips for brides in regards to choosing spring flowers for their wedding day!

Of course, choosing flowers can be overwhelming and costly, so to stay on budget choose flowers that are seasonal. Luckily, there are many flowers blooming in beautiful colors and in wonderful variety during this renewal transition. In spring, any type of bulb flower is going to be found in abundance such as tulips, irises, lilies, Gerber daisies or daffodils. Not only are they vibrant and absolutely gorgeous, but fragrant as well!

Here are some ideas for using a few types of seasonal flowers for your spring wedding:

Tulips—Tulips come in all kind of different colors and varieties (over 500!) which means you can use them with almost all wedding color choices. You can leave them closed for a modern, classic look and put them long-stemmed into long glass containers tied with ribbons. Your bridesmaids could carry a sleek bouquet of colorful tulips adorned with ribbon as well for a simplistic, yet lovely look.

Cherry or Magnolia Blossoms—These delicate and vintage looking flowers are harder to put into bouquets due to lack of stems, but easy to use as table decorations at your spring themed wedding reception. Found almost everywhere during the spring season, these blossoms would float beautifully in wide glass containers of water on your tables.

Daffodils—Sunny and cheery, these flowers just beckon a fresh or new beginning and offer an enormous amount of color. They are perfect for boutonnieres and corsages and also make beautiful wedding bouquets with their long stems. They come in yellows, whites, and even white with peach hues. They can also be considered as wedding favors as you can find the smaller mini-daffodils and plant in flower pots for each place setting.

Hyacinths—These will bring an aroma to your festivities that will make you think you are being married in a meadow. They are also unique in shape and add a great pop of blue color to a more ocean-like color theme or in addition to a few of your other favorite spring colors, like yellow.

Anemone—The vintage looking flower called Anemone has several types that bloom in the spring. Known as a wildflower, this bloom is delicate and offers other color choices such as plum or purple, deep blue, red, or rich pink. They would make beautiful flowering crowns for the bridesmaids for outdoor weddings! This flower is a great choice for a bride wanting a whimsical wedding and seems to be a really hot wedding flower trend at the moment.
