Summer Weddings

Summer weddings can be tricky with heat waves, rain, insects, and so on but they can also be beautiful and seamless if planned correctly. HideAway Country Inn provides the natural beauty for the perfect backdrop for any outdoor wedding ceremony. Below are some suggested tips to keep your wedding a summer success.

Dresses for the Girls-Keep your bride and bridesmaids dresses light and floaty. The last thing you want is a tight, clingy dress on a warm day. Go for fabrics like lace, organza, chiffon and tulle.

Hair & Makeup-Keep your hair off your shoulders and neck if possible. If you hate an up-do opt for at least half up. Keep your makeup light and natural. You don’t want makeup heavy and caked on with the sun beaming down your face. Plus natural lighting will show every little detail so less is more.

Accessories-Keep some umbrellas handy for guests to add shade as well as the bridesmaids. This also adds a cute touch to the look of the ceremony. Open toe shoes are a must and keep jewelry light. Steer clear from heavy, chunky necklaces.

Flowers-choose flowers that won’t wilt in heat. Some flowers that do well in summer months are: Calla Lily, Christmas Bells, Dahlia, Delphinium, Frangipani, Freesia, Garden Roses, Gardenia, Jasmine, Lavender, Lisianthus, Pansy, Peony, Pineapple Lilies, Privet Berries, Queen Anne's Lace, Sweet Pea, Tuberose, Water Lilies.

Suits for the Boys-stick to light weight suits with cotton shirts in light colors. You may also try linen. Opt for light socks rather than heavy cotton.

Ceremony-keep it short! Try to have fans circulating and misters if possible.

Stick to these tips and you’ll have a flawless wedding that won’t leave you drenched. Contact HideAway and we’ll even help set up a wedding planner for your big day!
